Introductions of Time and Space

(aka: Fargin Troublemakers)

by Mr. David R. Dorrycott

"Wait" the wildcat yelled as Nola moved to leave the room. She stopped suddenly, turning to face him. Bobi Forest slipped, tripping over his sheet in his haste to get to Nola. He ended up tangled in the pea green cloth, legs arms and tail wrapped around each other.

Nola snickered, "Yes, quite an interesting talent you have" she giggled. "I'll be sure to send Neeki down to watch you. She needs some humor."

"MURPH!" Bobi screamed through enfolding cloth, his one free hand waving in the air as he fought for breath. "Murph UMMPH!"

Nola giggled again, then dropped to one knee. Grabbing a corner of the sheet with both hands she stood suddenly, lifting her arms high above her head. Like a top spun free of its string the wildcat rolled across his shared room to slam into the lower bunk. "Owww... That hurt" he complained, rubbing his head. "No, I wanted to know if I'd see you again."

She quietly started folding the sheet, studying the male laying before her. With his legs all akimbo he was giving her an excellent view of his gifts. "I don't know" she stated honestly. "I am security officer, and even with an offer like that" she pointed to his half erect member, "I do have responsibilities."

Bobi groaned, closing his legs. "Is sex the only thing you think of" he asked. "There are other things we can do you know."

Nola tossed the folded sheet towards Forest. "You mean men have other uses than bedtoys?" She smiled. "Bobi, we're never going to have a long term relationship. Marriage I mean, getting to know each other too closely would be mistake. And I'm not known for making big mistakes."

"There was that pirate ship" Bobi answered as he stood, dropping the folded sheet on his bed. "You nearly got killed."

Nola shook her head. "Bobi... I was born and raised a warrior. Dying saving my ship.. That would have been a great honor. Not that I want to die. Not today, not tomorrow... Maybe not ever. But when the time comes...." She walked over to the larger male, reaching up to run her fingers through the thin down on his face. "I don't make mistakes like that Bobi. If I did I'd have been dead a long time ago."

Bobi reached up, grabbing the lynx's hand, pulling her to him. "Dammit Nola... What are you?"

"A woman" she laughed. "And a warrior. What else could I be?"

"No no no" Bobi groaned. "What is it with you? Every question you twist around. I've never seen a report on your race, not even a holovid. Listen, just tell me. What planet do you come from?"

"A habitable one orbiting a dark green star, why?"

Bobi closed his eyes, letting his forehead slowly droop. "Your military right?"

"No" Nola answered, a twinkle in her eye. She liked this kind of play, it was fun seeing him twist in the wind.

"You were once!"

"Bobi... That was a long long time ago" she whispered.

"How long?"

"Before your race was born" she admitted, dropping the bombshell.

"Nice joke, no ones that old."

"Okay, fine. Have it your way." Gently she withdrew her hand from his. "Now really, it was fun. I really had a great time and your the best male I've been with ever" (she failed to mention he was the only male she'd ever been with.) "But I really have to go. My duty shift starts in a few minutes."

"What if I won't let you go?"

"Then Leo will punish me."

"Oh.. Yeah.. Leo. Big guy, Lion, real strong. Forgot about him. Okay" Bobi agree, releasing her. "Look, we're still on the same ship. For the duration I mean."

Nola just shook her head. "I really don't think our schedules are going to coincide. I DO have flight patrols to make."

"Yeah, you and that crazy buzz-bomb of yours. Okay, if we manage, we manage." He gave her a short kiss, then watched as she left. "Crazy woman" he said to himself. "There are no habitable planets orbiting dark green stars. In fact, I've never HEARD of a dark green star..." He walked over to the bed table, picking up a comm-unit. "Time to do a little hunting" he sighed as he brought up the tri-vee of Nola's doorway. "Time to match languages..."

"Intruder in the crews private area" Nola announced. "Three... Four.. No five. Four small, one large." She unsnapped her holster, drawing out the stun gun she wore. "Most likely our passengers but I don't recognize the large one."

"Careful" Leo advised. "Those Telmarians are refugees. They probably just made a wrong turn."

"Noted Captain" Nola replied. "Yet Neeki's alone down there. And the hatch was sealed."

Leo Goldheart groaned. Telmarians were known for their courtesy, the sealed hatch was probably too much to resist. But who was the larger life form. He waited until Nola had stepped out before warning Neeki what was going on just outside her quarters.

The crack of an energy bolt just above their heads caused all four Telmarians to freeze in their tracks. One turned his head slowly towards the source of that bolt, what he saw sent shivers of fear.. and lust through his tiny body. Nola preferred charcoal grey clothing while on duty. A shade that just happened to be perfect for outlining her curves. "That, dear Telmarian, is a private chamber. In fact, every door in this area opens to a private room. Crews quarters. That one happens to open to Neeki's home. Now, how should I cook you. Over a slow fire or just low coals?"

It was impossible for him to know she wasn't serious. Those teeth, that stance... With a chittering cry he passed out, the hack card in his hand still half in the security scanner. Nola turned her stare to the others, two backed up while one, a young female and possibly very impressionable skittered forward. "Please not eat brother. Eat self. Self give great warrior. Not eat brother please please please?"

Nola walked past her, yanking the card from its slot she nudged the unconscious body. "You two drag this hero out of here. If I ever see any of you in a restricted area again I'll have you raw." She watched as they vanished around a corner, waited until she heard the security hatch closed behind them then turned to her prisoner. "Humm.. Sarg sauce or spiced? Well girl, I don't eat clothing." Quickly the frightened woman stripped, stepping away from her clothing with a shiver of fear, or was it something else she wondered as Nola indicated her to turn around. "I think a stew, no... live. I haven't had live food in years." Grabbing the girls hand she dragged her along. Actually she was hunting her larger intruder, one that had gone a different way. It just happened to be towards Nola's room. As she passed her door she stopped, palming it open. "Lay on the bed, don't touch anything. I'll be in with my knives when I'm through. And you better taste good, I'd hate to have to hunt that brother of yours." With a soft admission of defeat the young Telmarian entered, closing the door behind her.

"Let her stew on that a while" Nola whispered to herself as she checked her weapon. "Now lets find our last intruder." That turned out to be easier than she expected. Turning the next corner she found her prey, busy reading a sign and referring to the pamphlet Neeki had printed. "No" the well endowed feline was telling herself. "I'm still not in the public areas. Damn those four, why'd they disobey? I only hope this ships security is as lax as I think it is."

"Actually, its not really that bad" Nola whispered just loud enough for the feline to hear.

Magda Brownwood gave a start of surprise, the tiny chains in her ears jingling as she turned. Seeing Nola's weapon pointed at her she visibly relaxed. "Hausser, Model four stun gun. Electrical plasma discharge, range of twenty meters" she noted almost absently.

"Your good" Nola admitted. "Ex-Military, Mercenary or just a gun nut."

"None of the above, I'm an independent scholar. Look, I'll go quietly but you have to help me find those four trouble makers first. I warned them not to enter restricted areas, but would they listen? No, not those four. More trouble than their worth."

"Ah... ha..." Nola replied. "Name?"

"Magda.. Magda Brownwood. Look, I'm part of this group until our next stop. Then I'm free of my travel contract. but..." Magda stopped as Nola lifted her hand.

"I think you talk too much. Now, Turn around very slowly, hands behind your back. This happens to be the communications system and until Leo says otherwise, your under arrest for attempted sabotage of a refugee ship."

Maga nodded, turning. "Leo? Leo Goldheart? The Captain? Oh I'm sure every. OW! Hey! That hurt"

"Listen rachet jaw. Shut up or I'll rip off these cute panties of yours and use them as a gag for that pretty face. Understand?"

"Yes mam. But did you have to jerk so hard? That... OW!"

Nola studied her work, true to her word she'd ripped off the thin clothing, shoved it into the felines mouth then ripped a length of her strange clothing to tie around her head, holding the improvised gag in. Magda had fought ever second, even now she was giving Nola a look that could kill.

"Very good, now lets go. Be glad I'm not a slaver, you I'd like to keep." She gave the woman a seductive smile. "I think you'd make a perfect bed-toy, don't you?" Magda just turned her head away. "Fine, be that way." She stopped long enough to report to Neeki that her security routines had been compromised and the offending card was sitting outside her door, then dragged the deliciously plump cat up onto Leo's bridge. "Three shoved out, one held for questioning and then there's this one Sir" she reported. "Whatever you do, don't take that gag out, she rattles on like a broken cog."

Leo stood, towering over Nola and her prize. "Go take care of your interrogation, I'll handle this one." Nola snapped a salute, then headed for her own room. Telmarian's were supposed to be unflappable. Somehow she'd found a way to make one pass out with just words. This bore looking into. Besides, she'd never been with one before. Opening her door she found the girl laying on her bed as ordered, waiting.

Bobi Forest studied his results, maybe three of four known languages had remote matches to his query, but one had been created for a science fiction show a hundred years ago. Even then it was only a vague match. Of the other two only a few dozen or so words were known, the third belonged to an aquatic race. "Using Gegors Razor that means this one has to be it" he mused. But it was only a few lines found laying on the moon of a long dead planet near the galactic edge. Some kind of plaque attached to a destroyed system that might have been a probe, or a satellite. Nothing was left on the planet, a terminal solar eruption had seen to that. There wasn't even any water left. "It couldn't be her planet anyway, things a yellow variable G-4 star. There is one way to check." He printed out the entire text, two pages worth, and went hunting his lover.
